The Faculty of Medicine students visited Mikheil Shengelia Museum of Georgian Medicine History. The event was initiated ad organized by Caucasus International University Career Development Service and the Faculty of Medicine. The above mentioned visit was planned in order to celebrate the Professional Day of Medics on December 23.
Mr. Ramaz Shengelia, Director of the museum met the students who headed the excursion and showed the Museum of Georgian Medicine History to students.
It is noteworthy that the museum was established in 1963 in Tbilisi by the initiate of Mikheil Shengelia, who was one of the founders of the research of Georgian Medicine History. It was officially opened in 1967 in the building of Blue Monastery, XII-Century Georgian Church.
Ramaz Shengelia showed to students exhibits, artifacts and other displayed items preserved in the museum. As stated by him, Georgian Medical manuscripts are considered as masterpieces of their time. It is worth mentioning that after 25 years of pause, the Museum of Georgia Medicine history was opened on November 25, 2018 and CIU Faculty of Medicine students turned out to be the first visitors.
